The 21st Century Church in the Marketplace & 7 Mountains

The 21st Century Church is putting a new face on what the world and the future will look like. To be the true salt and light that Jesus Christ called us to be, we must now become a wall-less church. Man was created for conquest and adventure. When Kingdom is only a Sunday event, man’s need and passion for conquest is misplaced.  When men and women in the marketplace do not have a clear vision as to their calling in the Seven Spheres of Society, their conquest and adventure will be misdirected. Misplaced conquest and adventure will lead men to sinful, unproductive, selfish and deviant lifestyles. When King David was meant to be on the battlefield, he was found in the bedroom; this is misplaced conquest.

Today’s true battlefield is in the marketplace or what we call the Seven Mountains of Culture or Seven Spheres of Society: family, church, media, government/law, education, arts/entertainment and finance/business. As marketplace leaders and change-agents, we are called to recover the earth for God and bring it under His Kingdom rule. As priests in the marketplace, we are called to minister to those in our sphere, praying for them, healing them, prophesying over them, encouraging them and leading or influencing them. As kings, we gain mastery over circumstances and take authority over principalities and powers that keep our cities and citizens captive.  We find and focus on root causes rather than just symptoms. We also focus on solutions rather than just problems.

Our pursuit in the marketplace movement is not just revival, but also the establishment of Christ’s Kingdom on the planet.  The current war in the world is for culture and economics. We are called to create a new culture and finance it for the glory of God.  The Kingdom of God is more than evangelism, healing and salvation; it is to recover, reform and refill the earth with Christ’s Kingdom.

Genesis 1:26-28, “And God said, Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created He them.  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

Psalms 2:8, “Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession.”

Kingdom reformation and restoration is the answer to the world’s present chaos.
